How old were you when you realized that just because an exhaust sounds loud does not mean a car sounds good? Mustang guys, I'm especially talking to you because you cannot tell me your car sounds good when your exhaust looks like this. See, the biggest reason a full exhaust system sounds way better than just a straight pipe is because most exhausts still have mufflers. Even if they're really small or hidden, they still have something that drowns out certain frequencies of sound. But sometimes, for no apparent reason, people will go with a full straight pipe or track exhaust, something that looks like this, and their car will sound like absolute garbage. See, while you might think that louder is better, that's not always the case, especially when you're talking about engines like V8s. There's a big difference between a rumble or a chop and just straight diarrhea bubble guts coming out those exhaust pipes. And I see this way too often when people say, oh, I bought this exhaust because it's louder. But just because it's louder doesn't mean you can hear the quality of the engine sound. And it's even worse when people buy a titanium exhaust expecting it to sound better, because even though it's lighter, titanium doesn't last and it also has a lot different frequency than stainless steel. And most titanium exhausts I've heard sound extremely raspy. For me, a regular stainless steel exhaust system with a muffler and sometimes even a resonator is probably your best bet, because chopping everything off doesn't mean sound quality, and I don't know how some people drive like this every day. But do you agree, or would you just straight pipe your car? And follow me here if you want to learn more about car stuff like this.
