Porsche paid for us to eat at Mastro's. Here's why. One of the most interesting parts of Porsche training had nothing to do with the cars. When I worked at Porsche, they took us out to a Mastro's steakhouse, and it wasn't because they wanted to buy us a nice dinner for training. Part of the idea was experiencing the level of service and attention to detail that Porsche customers were already used to. Because think about it, if someone normally stays at high-end hotels, eats at great restaurants, flies first class, shops at luxury brands, and then they pull up into a Porsche dealership, they're not going to suddenly lower their expectations just because they're buying a car. And this one thing changed the way I think about customer service. Your customers aren't only comparing you to your competitors, but they're also comparing you to the best experiences they've had anywhere else. Once someone experiences really high service, that just becomes the new standard.
