"Defilade" is an old-school isometric RTS set in modern warfare where you command troops that make their own decisions in a fight. You give the orders, but the soldiers fight like soldiers. They take cover behind low walls and rise to fire, lean around corners, vault obstacles, dive away from grenades, throw live ones back, and start conserving ammunition when supplies run thin. When one goes down, the squad reacts on its own: covering fire while a medic treats him in the field or drags him back to a medical tent to be revived. Nothing about it feels like clicking icons around a grid. The battlefields are fully destructible and built to be dug into. Trenches, concrete walls, wire and mines all matter, and you can carve your own fortifications into the terrain. Behind the front you build forward operating bases that stage troops and push supply out by truck, and those convoys can be ambushed, so holding your supply lines is as important as holding ground. Tanks ricochet rounds off armour, FPV kamikaze drones hunt overhead, and captured enemies can be interrogated. It plays solo through a campaign, or online and LAN in both PvP and co-op. Developed and published by RBGames, Defilade is coming to PC via Steam and to macOS.
