I attempted my own concrete countertops, cause your girl's on a budget and you'll see how much they cost at the end. I'm building an outdoor kitchen, so I've got some cement board as my base. Next, I have to add these edge forms to give me that nice countertop overhang. I got all my supplies from ZCounterform because they make DIY countertops so easy. They give you all the pro tips like duct taping your corners and seams, and they just tell me exactly what I need, like this fiber mesh that is a must for strength and stability. I'm not doing all this work to end up with cracks. Next, we mixed in the additives to turn a standard bag of concrete into more of a flowy countertop mix and started pouring. This part was a little stressful to do the mixing and leveling quick enough, so hubby's help was crucial. We have actually done Z Counterforms white concrete before in a kitchen that turned out beautifully. After 24 hours, I snap off the forms to reveal that gorgeous, clean, square edge. I sanded and sealed to achieve this. They turned out so good for around $500 bucks and strong enough to dance on. Next, I'm adding stone to my counter bases, so follow along on my DIY adventures.
