On November 25, 1988, 17-year-old Junko Furuta was abducted while riding her bicycle home from work in Saitama, Japan. She was held captive for 40 days by four teenage boys, who repeatedly abused and tortured her while dozens of people allegedly became aware of her captivity but failed to alert authorities. After she died from her injuries on January 4, 1989, her body was hidden inside a 50-gallon drum filled with concrete and dumped in an industrial area, where it was discovered nearly three months later. The four perpetrators were eventually arrested and tried as juveniles, receiving prison sentences that many considered far too lenient. The case remains one of Japan’s most infamous criminal cases and continues to spark outrage decades later. #japan #horrorstory #analoghorror #truecrime #analoghorror
