On November 7, 1940, the 2,800-foot Tacoma Narrows Bridge began twisting and swaying violently in powerful winds while cars were still on the roadway. The movement became increasingly severe until sections of the bridge broke apart and collapsed into Puget Sound. The disaster became one of the most famous engineering failures in history and changed how engineers approached bridge design and wind resistance. #Tacoma #History #Engineering #disasters #HistoryFacts
