This is what I want my Halloween fragrance to smell like. Not pumpkin spice, not caramel apples, not a vanilla fragrance with a cute little bat on the front. No tea, no shade. I wanna smell like I did something terrible in town, like 200 years ago and nobody wants to talk about it. This makes me think of black clothing, a candlelight dinner, Halloween night. It's nice and crisp and cool outside. This is Mortality's Echo by ROMASS. And even the name is crazy dramatic, so of course, I had to smell it. The first thing I get is this dark boozy sweetness. Dark liquor sitting in an old wooden barrel. Then you start getting the coffee and the cocoa coming through and that's where it starts getting really good. The coffee is dark and bitter. The cocoa is dry and almost, like, dusty or powdery. It's almost like a dark unsweetened cacao, like some Whole Foods dark chocolate. And underneath all of that there's this earthy woody quality that makes the whole fragrance feel old to me. Not like old-fashioned, old, ancient. And there is a sweetness here, but it never turns into like, an edible gourmand sweetness. It's darker and stickier and almost, like, more burnt. The booze starts settling down. The woods warm up, and you are left with this creamy dark coffee and chocolate thing. If you've smelled Black Phantom by Kilian, this is in that realm. This smells like that person at that party that everyone is slightly or very much afraid to talk to, but still wants to stand next to because they smell really good. And that is exactly the energy I want in October. If Halloween had a signature scent, this would absolutely be in the running. Let me know if you wanna see a full list of my Halloween fragrances.
