Artist Casey Curran creates kinetic sculptures that combine mechanical systems with forms inspired by plants and natural structures. In this prototype, layers of delicate petals are connected so that a single mechanical action produces a rippling movement across the entire structure. Instead of every element moving independently, the motion travels through the sculpture like a wave. This type of movement is central to Curran’s practice. Using motors, wires, cranks and carefully engineered mechanisms, he creates artificial flowers and organisms that bloom, flutter and contract.
