HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE IS OFTEN DIAGNOSED WITHOUT ONE CLEAR, IDENTIFIABLE CAUSE. When the standard cardiac workup comes back normal but your blood pressure is still elevated, it may be labeled “essential” or “primary” hypertension. But I don’t think the investigation should stop there. Look deeper at what can influence blood pressure: sleep, stress, metabolic health, nutrition, activity, medications, kidney function, and genetics. Medication can be necessary, but understanding what’s contributing to the problem matters too.
