I’m showing my newborn my former place of employment and it breaks my heart he’ll never get to see his daddy whip that train around the corner. Unfortunately sinkholes ruined that - and I don’t know if related, but did you know the Louisville zoo is actually above the Mega Caverns, 100 acres of underground city? If you ever touched this you’re immune from disease now. And if you don’t go left to start with Africa you’re a psychopath. Also why don’t we have peacocks here anymore? Top tier carousel, but my 9 and a half hour shifts running that thing ensured that I finished my degree. It’s weird not having elephants, but sleep tight knowing Louisville’s are now in Tennessee at the nation's largest natural-habitat refuge for endangered Asian and African elephants. I don’t know who’s sharting more, him or the penguins. For anyone curious, I remember being told the jaguar was the deadliest animal in the zoo, but he’s gone now so I guess it’s him now. Some days I had to fill in and help inside the Splash Park and I think would’ve rather licked 100 doorknobs. I see both sides to people loving or hating zoos, but all I’ll say is if you do go to a zoo, make sure it’s AZA accredited like this one. Also worth noting that the Louisville Zoo has been the key contributor in essentially saving the Black Footed Ferret Species breeding over 1,200 of the endangered animal since the 90s. Maybe one day he’ll follow in my footsteps. #louisvillezoo #thingstodo #booatthezoo #louisville #kentucky
