Hook
How did a young man get mauled to death by a tiger in broad daylight? Well, we've spoken to people who were there at the time and this is what they've told us. Sky News understands the man was standing outside the enclosure where the public can be, and he was listening to music through headphones and dancing. He then asked a couple that was stood nearby to take a picture of him and they did that for him. Soon after, he got into the enclosure. The person who took these pictures says that this is the horrific moment when the tiger spots the man. You can see its eyes jolt towards the victim. It was such a sudden movement, the person behind the camera thought the tiger had spotted a zookeeper with food. The man was seen bowing down on all fours on the ground. Helpless onlookers told him to play dead, but he didn't respond. They said he was telling the tiger to stop being naughty and was gesturing in apparent sign language at the animal. He was then mauled to death. Flowers were laid at the entrance to the park, which has been closed ever since. The tiger which attacked the man is called Altai. He's an Amur tiger, which is a rare subspecies. There are just 500 like him left in the wild. The wildlife park has confirmed that Altai won't be put to sleep in response to the man's death, but Doncaster Council has launched a health and safety investigation. The man's identity has not yet been made public, but South Yorkshire Police are supporting his family. Officers are still investigating how a young man, apparently quite easily, got into such a deadly situation.
