32 years ago today Pulp Fiction hit theaters, and cinema was never the same. It won the Palme d’Or at Cannes, took home Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars, and made over $200 million on a budget of around $8 million. Roger Ebert called it the most influential movie of the 90s, and he wasn’t wrong. But the thing everyone remembers is the dance. Jack Rabbit Slim’s, a 50s themed diner, Vincent and Mia entering the twist contest to Chuck Berry’s “You Never Can Tell”. Just Travolta and Uma Thurman being incredibly cool while the camera barely cuts. The best part is that Tarantino was reportedly dancing right there on set, showing them the energy he wanted before the cameras rolled. Footage of him dad dancing still exists. It was also a huge comeback moment for Travolta.
