Illegal to Grow Your Own Seeds?

Imagine growing your own food, only to discover you're not allowed to save certain seeds and plant them again. It sounds unbelievable, but certain patented GMO seeds come with restrictions that prevent farmers from saving harvested seed to plant the following season. In other words, growing the crop doesn't necessarily give you the right to reproduce the patented seed. But here's the important part: this is NOT true of every seed. Many open-pollinated, non-GMO seed varieties can be saved and replanted year after year, allowing you to harvest your food, save your seeds, return them to the soil, and continue the cycle for another generation. Just be sure to check for any applicable seed patents or licensing restrictions. Somewhere along the way, we began choosing convenience over quality, abundance over nourishment, and efficiency over working with nature. I believe it's time to get back to the land.
