Madam Political Leader, imagine using your platform to publicly denounce me for having an opinion, while remaining conspicuously silent on the serious allegations surrounding individuals associated with your own party. Interesting priorities. You have attempted to make my appearance the issue because you cannot seem to address my argument. But my face, my body and my opinions are not the political crisis here. Your judgment is. A leader who can find her voice to publicly humiliate a woman for disagreeing with her, yet appears less vocal when serious allegations of dishonesty surround people within her own circle, raises legitimate questions about her priorities, principles and leadership. Politics is not a loyalty club where dishonesty must be excused to protect the team, and disagreement is not betrayal. I will not compromise my principles to accommodate anybody's political affiliations, celebrity status or personal friendships. You were never the main character in this story. You were barely a footnote, until you decided to make yourself the headline. And in doing so, you have given the public a glimpse of how you respond when challenged. I do not need to body-shame you, insult your appearance or question your worth as a woman to challenge your suitability as a leader. Your own conduct has provided enough material for that conversation. Trinidad and Tobago deserves leadership that can withstand scrutiny, demonstrate consistency and distinguish personal loyalty from public responsibility. We need leaders who address difficult questions, not leaders who attempt to silence the people asking them. So, Madam, take your bow. We will return to the matter at hand, because the point was never you. It was never about you, and it will not become about you simply because you have entered the conversation. You are the weakest link. Goodbye. #TheRealRawTalk #Accountability #politics #trendingnews #socialissues
