Why it worked

The creator uses a relatable, casual tone and a "real-time" unboxing format that invites viewer participation, turning a standard product review into a conversational experience.

Summary

The creator unboxes a Colourpop advent calendar, reacting to the items she finds inside. She expresses disappointment that the calendar contains accessories like an ornament rather than just makeup products.

Structure

1Creator begins unboxing the advent calendar while lying down.
2She reveals a lip mask and expresses hope for a palette.
3She finds rhinestones instead of a palette.
4She reveals a pressed powder shadow and a lip gloss.

Product placement

Colourpop Advent Calendar: (a) ACTS — it is opened, its contents are revealed, and the creator evaluates the value of the items inside. Removing it would change the entire video. Colourpop: (a) ACTS — the brand name is visible on the calendar and every product inside, and the creator explicitly names it as the source of the advent calendar. Removing it would change the video.

I am laying down and doing this, girl, because there is no way I'm gonna be back up and trying to open this on all fours. Okay. Ooh, okay, lip mask, come through. Please, please be a palette. Eight, bring us back home. Okay, what colour is this? Ooh, she's like a salmon pink colour off stage. And it is over here. It's probably gonna be a lip pencil. Oh, I was super wrong. Lippy gloss. I do like the cool tones. Never misses. Okay, this is close to the heart shape. I don't wanna wait. No, 10. What is that? That's a possibility to get an ornament. Okay. She's cute, but I thought this was like a product advent calendar. I guess that was my fault for assuming. Hey, what do we, what do we think of that so far? Hmm. So these are the first five. These are the next five. Do we feel like it's a nothing salad or are we eating. Are we feeling like it's big burger energy, though? I'm not too sure, but definitely salad energy. I'm getting salad from this for sure.
