iPhone Duo carrier deals: is $1,200 off really a deal? 🤔 Carriers are fighting to give you big offers on the iPhone Duo. AT&T says up to $1,200 off, and T-Mobile and Verizon say up to $1,000. But here's what you actually pay. 1. Bill credits, not discounts The credits are spread over 36 months. AT&T's $1,200 works out to about $33 a month for three years. 2. The priciest plans AT&T's top credit needs Unlimited Premium (about $90/mo). T-Mobile's needs Experience Beyond (about $105/mo). Verizon's $1,000 is only for new lines on Unlimited Ultimate ($95+/mo). Over 36 months, that's more than $3,000 in plan costs. 3. Your old phone AT&T's $1,200 needs a trade-in worth at least $230. Part of that "discount" is your old phone, and Apple's own trade-in gives $175 to $885 for an iPhone 13 or newer. The catch: if you cancel, or pay the phone off early, the credits stop. Leave AT&T early and you owe what's left on the phone. What you still pay for the Duo, best case: $799 at AT&T, $999 at T-Mobile or Verizon, plus three years on a premium plan. The "free" stuff: Verizon's Apple Watch or iPad "on us" offer needs a new line, at least $20 a month on a 36-month plan. That's $720 over three years for up to $600 in credits. Prices are for one line with AutoPay, before taxes and fees. Deals change often, so check the carrier's site before you buy. Would you lock in for three years to save $1,200?
