This castle's secret to surviving a long siege wasn't its walls. It was a hole in the ground. 🕯️ Nuremberg Castle in Germany has a famous Deep Well. Workers carved it almost 50 meters down into solid sandstone. At the bottom, it reached an underground spring. That mattered a lot. In the Middle Ages, an enemy could surround a castle and cut it off for months. Without safe water, the people inside would not last long. This well kept them going. Today, guides lower burning candles into the dark shaft. The tiny flames keep sinking and sinking, and that's how you see just how deep it goes. It's a great example of the smart planning behind medieval castles. 👀 #NurembergCastle #DeepWell #MedievalHistory #Nuremberg #CastleHistory
