Hiya, my name's Vicky Gill, and I'm Costume Designer for Strictly Come Dancing. This week we're going to take a look back at Maddie's costume, which was Cha Cha, last weekend. We started off with 110 panels to start creating Maddie's costume. From the neckline, we wanted to take it over the bust into the waist, back out to the hip and then into the skirt line. Making sure that all of the skirt was positioned at the bottom hip. Because this was giving us the maximum amount of movement. We have lots and lots of crystals on the base, we need to be able to see that. We're mixing pearls, which are a peach colour. Then we've got transmission stones. We've got a peridot green and a gold. As we look at the costume, we think of it just being a gold base, but there's lots of tone and shade within it, which has given us lots of value on set. If I could change anything about the dress moving forward, if I could do it again, I think I would have dyed the fringe to a slightly deeper green so that it melted in with these bagged out pieces.
