Over 180 people were executed inside this pub and today you can grab a pint and drink it underneath the beam where they dropped. This is the Skirrid Inn, tucked away in Llanvihangel Crucorney, dating back over 900 years. It's officially recognized as the oldest pub in all of Wales. Back in the 17th century, the upper floor didn't serve food or hotel guests. It operated as a brutal local courtroom. Sentences were handed down upstairs and the condemned were marched straight down this very oak staircase. And the rope was tied to the main ceiling beam. The execution was carried out right in the middle of the hallway. If you look very closely at the timber today, you can still see the deep grooves worn into the wood by the hanging ropes. But the dark history goes back even further. In 1400, Welsh rebel leader Owen Glendower gathered his men in this exact room and plotted his violent uprising against the English crown. With centuries of bloodshed, it's no surprise people consider this one of the most haunted places in Britain. Guests constantly report hearing phantom footsteps on the stairs, glasses flying off the bar, and the sudden chilling feeling of a rope tightening around their neck.
