For those that know and don't know, I only got Invisalign because I fancied my dentist. I'm gonna break down a few things that I wish somebody had told me before I did my aligners. Whether you're doing Invisalign smile direct by any of them, these tips and tricks will help you. First things first. 1. Get oral numbing gel. If you're someone who cannot take pain in your mouth, you are going to wanna get a numbing gel and numbing cream beforehand. Because when I tell you that pain is painful and it's constant, you're not gonna wanna go through with this. I woke up at 4 o'clock in the morning the first night that I did my aligners. I did nighttime aligners and when I tell you I was in pain. I had never wished for Walmart to be 24 hours more than I did in that moment. Next, one of my most viral videos on this page is when I was telling you guys how I got nerve damage because I skipped weeks. Basically and if you do not take away anything else from this video, take this away. Do not skip days. Do the recommended amount of days, even add a day or two, but do not go shorter. I did nighttime and it was recommended that you do 7 days and then you switch to the next tray. There was one week where I did 5 days and that I think actually ruined my mouth and gave me a little bit of nerve damage. Thankfully I did a lot of work to get my teeth back to normal. The teeth are no longer gray and we are all healthy. But if you don't take anything away, take that away. Don't don't do that. So now we're gonna talk about hygiene. Oil pulling is something I talk a lot about on this page and for some reason it is a very controversial topic and I don't really understand why. Cause if you don't wanna do it, just don't do it. I think it works really well and that's why I continue to do it and advocate for it. But if you don't wanna do it, you simply don't have to. But flossing, brushing your teeth, using mouthwash and tongue scraping is something that I think everybody should be doing and it should not be a controversial topic. So you are going to want to treat your mouth as you would normally. Do all the steps I just listed and then brush your aligners. Use hydrogen peroxide, use whatever type of cleaner your aligners come with and also use toothpaste. Like I treat my aligners as if they were an extra set of teeth and I would just brush them before and after use. There's never a time where I didn't at least at the bare minimum, rinse them off and use hydrogen peroxide. That's just kind of gross to me. And you just pop them in your mouth. Please don't be like that. These things harbor so much bacteria and if you're just popping them in your mouth without cleaning them, you're just exponentially growing the amount of bad bacteria that sits in your mouth, on your teeth, on your tongues all day and that's just not something we want. So I recommend an alcohol-free mouthwash. Basically just to cleanse the palette. I recommend either TheraBreath or Smart Mouth. Those are the my 2 go-to's that are like a staple in my oral hygiene. But you can really use any alcohol free mouthwash that works for you. But if you guys have any other questions or comments, leave them below and I will be sure to answer them.
