This dude raised $830k, and like the GOAT he is - decided to return it all back bc he became profitable. He raised a pre seed round and decided he didn't wanna be in the hamster wheel of VC funding and gave all the money he raised back to the investors. This savage dude raised a modest 830,000 and just returned whole of it. Patrice is the cofounder and CEO of Throne. Throne allows creators to create wish lists where their fans can purchase these items and send it straight to the creator without actually giving away any personal information on address. Basically Patrice didn't want to have to report to VCs and decided to make his business profitable so he can take the bootstrap route. It's interesting because when they raise that safe note they were on VC trajectory growth. 1 million in purchases in a single month with 50% growth month over month. So damn good numbers. But fast forward to 2023, post banking crash, we all understood and saw how hard it was to fundraise. They realized that they might not have the VC outcome that they need. So instead of lying to himself and continuing to raise money, they decided to make more money than their expenses. And the crazy responsible thing is that they realize that their market was limited. So kudos to you Patrice. Throne is definitely a business you should keep your eyes on. Not only is it interesting for creators, but they're innovating with a new item called Happy Wishlist, allowing folks to create wishlists for their friends and family. It's an interesting take and I'm not sure how much more value this will add versus just going to Amazon, but they probably see something that I don't and I hope for the best success. All my founders out there use this as inspiration and let's get cooking.
