Do you want to be like the Grace Beverley’s, Aimee Smale’s, and Pia Mance’s of the world, but you don’t know how to build your personal brand to that level? Let me explain how you can build your personal brand in the press. First thing you need to do is find a hook to your founder story. The hard truth is that journalists don’t have any interest in your personal brand story if it’s not bringing value to their readers. So how can you be timely and relevant to what they wanna share with their audience? So for example, for myself, I got featured in BBC News and Business Insider because I was talking about quiet quitting, which was trending at the time, and I tied that in to my personal brand story. You might see business founders like Grace Beverley in places like Vogue Business. And whilst those are amazing publications to aspire to, and you will get there one day if you’re committed, it’s best to start small, because those journalists at the big publications do their research on you before they write their articles. So if they can’t find you anywhere, you’re less likely to be featured. So start small and build your profile. One of the easiest ways to do that is to start with local press. So can you share your story about how you’re building your business with your local news team? And if you’re looking for some quick win personal brand coverage, you might wanna try looking out for journalist requests. You can find these on X under the hashtag journalist requests. What that is, is a feed of journalists constantly coming through and asking for experts to feature within their articles. So you can go straight to them and give them exactly what they are looking for, rather than creating a story and trying to get the journalist interested in you. If you have questions, let me know.
