I started working as a software engineer at Disney. And at 27 years old, this is my first real office job. My work experience consists of being either a remote programmer or self-employed. So these past four months have definitely been a lifestyle change. My day usually consists of about an hour or two of meetings, and the rest is just solo time spent on programming. Going from creator to software engineer in this market was a long journey. I was applying on and off for like two years with no luck, but I ended up getting two offers in November, Disney being one of them. What saved me was that I built my own website called RateMyDorm, and it just so happened that the skill sets I used to build it are exactly what I needed for these roles. So this is your sign to grind on your own project because you never know where it can take you.
