This is how I went from being a professional to anything coding to understanding my startup's 30,000 line code base in under 10 hours. First, I skimmed over the AI generated docs to get a feel for the back end file structure. And then I consulted my Lord and savior (cursor) to find out how to run the server in the first place and find out the practices my engineering lead was using throughout the code base. After that, I leveraged a tool that used to be pretty popular a few years ago, but seems to die out over time, Devin AI. I basically asked Devin to explain the purpose of specific files within the broader code base and how I could replicate certain elements I was assigned to now. I mainly wanted to make this video to illustrate AI's insane capabilities not only as a code writer, but also as a code instructor. I feel like nowadays is wrongly directed towards vibe coders who can deploy an app in under an hour. Instead, I feel like we should celebrate the fact that the barrier to entry for programming is at an all-time low. So if you still think programming is scary like I used to think back in like 8th grade, take it from me, a professional dumbass, it's not.
