Early on in my career, I found this very dusty corner of our documentation. It was half written, completely out of date, and confusing. Everybody was avoiding it, but because I like doing hard things, I volunteered to fix it. What I did was to basically audit the chaos. What I did was I spent a day mapping out what was broken, all the outdated steps. I tried to fix them. I tried to understand why are they outdated? What are we actually doing that does not correlate with what we have? What context do we not have right now that would make this make so much sense? What contradictions are here that don't really match what we currently have? Step 2 is basically started to clean and track. So I rewrote it, then I tested it. So I was looking at the repetitive questions, which surprisingly drops down by 30% and the ramp time for hires also in half. Point three, what I did was to share the win visibly. I basically did two long DiM reach recap, I posted that in Slack, I tagged my managers and some key people on my team as well. Here's what I think. Big flashy everybody wants those. Everyone wants to work on the cool thing, get that promotion. But the forgotten stuff, the boring internal mess? That is where the leverage is. So what you want to do is three things, right?
