People often ask me, does your background as a pharmacist help you understand hair care? And I would always say, no, not really. Because honestly, like pharmacy school is not about hair at all. But the more I actually think about it, I definitely think it's helped me more than it's hurt me. For those of you that do not know me, I am a proud Bison. I went to Howard from 2013 to 2019. I studied chemistry and applied mathematics in undergrad. And unfortunately, I can't call myself a double Bison because I never got my bachelor's degree. I know, crazy work. But I went on to receive my doctorate of pharmacy in 2019. As a pharmacist, I was trained to understand the entirety of the body. And not just like how a disease happens, but why they happen and how to treat them safely and effectively. And if we're being honest, your hair is tied to your overall health. Hair loss, scalp issues, product reactions, even how your body absorbs nutrients, it's literally all tied back to biology. Even like medications, hormone levels, stress levels, it's all intertwined. And that's exactly what I learned in pharmacy school. I think that's why my approach to hair care is just a little bit different, because I don't just think about products by themselves, but really how they impact you all together. I always wanna get to the root problem. Why are you even having the problem? How do the products interact? And then what's going to be the long-term impact on your body? So yes, being a pharmacist has definitely helped me in the hair care space. It's all about understanding the full picture from the inside out.
