The past few months have been chaotic, but blessings to say the least. I started a new role as a GRC Engineer, launched my new GRC Professional Development community, finished my cybersecurity business plan, moved out of my first apartment, and got my CRISC. I’ve realized a few thing and learned a few lessons. #1 - You need to define your own success. I used to compare myself to people on social media. Thinking why am I not rich yet. Why don’t I have the cool lambo? The high rise apartment? The minute I focused on the things I wanted, and not what the world was projecting toward me to desire, is the minute all of those things because immediate accessible to me. #2 - You can’t avoid doing the real work. I procrastinated that CRISC. It should have been done months ago, but instead of just sitting down and reading the text book, I tried to watch random YouTube videos and take shortcuts. I was desperately trying to acquire a role as a GRC Engineer but I refused to open up the IDE and start coding again, I refused to get re-acquainted with cloud. But once I just sat down and relearned, the opportunity came to me easily. I’m just getting started. Focused on my growth and helping others. That’s it.
