Hook
A lot of you guys who say you want to get into cybersecurity or any sort of like six figure technology career, I think a lot of you guys like the idea of being a career where you're working from home, you know, you're making a decent amount of money, six figures, 150k, 200k a year. And then you do what I did like move to a low cost state like North Carolina. And you know, sure, your access definitely opens up financially. But the part that y'all don't understand about this whole, you know, six figure tech thing is bro, I have to read a lot of textbooks. I have to read a lot of articles. I have to take a lot of courses. I have to sit for a lot of exams. I have to go to a lot of networking events. I have to shake a lot of hands. These are all things that I have to do continuously to maintain, you know, the career trajectory that I'm on. And these are things that I had to do at a very high level early on in my career to get to the point that I'm at right now. And a lot of y'all don't want to do that. Part of it, part of it is because you're so discouraged from seeing the job market on LinkedIn and seeing people just talk about how bad the job market is. Bro, if that is the type of content that you're going to consume, of course you're going to be discouraged. The first thing is to change your mindset and understand that if you put the work in, all of the opportunities that all of the other people in tech have will be readily available for you if you literally just like put in the work. But the caveat to that is that it's work. You're not just going to get your Security Plus certification, you know, use some AI app to spam apply to 150 roles and then think that you're just going to land in a cybersecurity role. That's not how it works. Unfortunately, I know that's how it's been sold to you guys on the internet, but that's not how this process works. If that was how the process worked, everybody would just get their Security Plus and have a six figure role. Why wouldn't everybody just do it? The reason that everybody doesn't do it is because it's difficult. Getting a computer science degree is difficult. Getting a cybersecurity degree or information management systems degree or whatever degree is difficult. Studying for high level certifications is difficult. Bro, when I was studying for my C-RISC, the content wasn't even the hard part. It was literally just like sitting down and reading the textbook. A lot of y'all don't even want to do that. A lot of y'all don't even want to, a lot of you guys don't even have the attention span to sit down and just like read something for two hours. The problem is a lot of you guys spend so much time trying to find the shortcut that if you would take that same amount of time and put it into a real system, right, and and and maintain that same system over an extended period of time, you would be where you would want to be by now. And it really is sad because the gurus have psy-opped you guys into thinking that you're just going to join their course, that you're going to get your Security Plus, that you're going to use their AI tool to just like mass apply to jobs, and then that's just like your golden ticket to making $200,000 a year remote. Let's be serious.
