This is my Giant Schnauzer. His name is Hyrame. A lot of people ask me why I chose this breed. So I'm going to give you guys a little bit of insight into my philosophy as to why I chose a Giant Schnauzer. First things first, let's get it out of the way. They look cool. Okay? They got the beard thing going on, they got the cool hair. Right? They're cool looking dogs. Second thing is that they're hypoallergenic. Right? There's no real such thing as a true hypoallergenic dog, but they are a very low shed breed. Now, I like big protection dogs, right? So Giant Schnauzers definitely fit the bill for that. But the thing about Giant Schnauzers that makes them different than other protection breeds is that they're not typically on, uh, like breed banned lists for apartments or stuff like that. And at the time when I was thinking about getting him, I was sort of in a transitional period from moving from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. And I wanted to limit, like, the places that I would be able to live because of the dog that I have. If I would have gotten a German Shepherd or a Pitbull or a Rottweiler or something like that, they're on a lot of do not allow lists for a lot of apartment complexes. So I didn't want to limit myself in that way. That is also a good segue to lifestyle. Guys, I'm extremely active. I love to hike, I love to camp, I love to go out and be in nature. This is a dog that needs a tremendous amount of mental and physical stimulation. I am the type of guy who I'll wake up at 1 o'clock in the morning because I can't sleep and I'll literally take a two, three mile walk. And that's the perfect thing for him. Now, these dogs are extremely stubborn dogs, so they need very, very strong leadership. However, they do excel at obedience training. What I found with Giant Schnauzers is the trick with them is very psychological. And it's making them feel like they're the ones that's making the choice to do whatever it is that you're asking them to do. I'm not sure if that makes sense.
