Don’t ask me how long this took, I don’t even know 😅 I think it was around three days of pixeling, not counting all the concept work I did on the map before I decided to go with a 16x16 tile approach. I kind of apprehensive about adding a map to the game, even though it makes switching between levels intuitive. I was worried about limiting the players creativity by locking them into a specific biome… but with this approach I was able to draw some buildings and turn them into 16x16 tiles in Unity 🏘️ So this “map” is really modular and can be easily extended. The final game map might not look exactly how it looks in this video…🌆 I want to shift from an island concept to more of a city or town vibe, but cities take a lot of time to draw 🎨 Right now we’re starting with a small island and about five buildings 🏠 and the next step is working on mechanics to save and load levels as you interact with the map 💾 We’ll just keep adding on from there! In this video I’m working on our indie game Pixome 👾 which is an isometric decorating game 🛋️ You can learn all about it at pixome.io 🌐 I’m drawing in Procreate using my special pixel art brush pack ✏️📱 which you can download for FREE on my Ko-fi.
