Typically people that live in cities in India have a village that their ancestors grew up in. Come with me to my mom's place. It's about 5 hours but it is never boring in India. There is just so much to look at. Even on the highway, they're drying out some sort of crop, there are animals crossing. Finally we get to my aunt's house and it was so cute. She had my Forbes 30 under 30 pictures framed and a bunch of baby pictures. The next morning we went over to my mom's village. It was so special seeing my mom's village and showing my boyfriend the water tank that they built for the village, different temples. We actually visited one of the temples and he did so good with having a classic South Indian banana leaf meal. I was very proud of him. There's so many antiques at my mom's ancestral home and it was so special seeing her walk through the street she grew up in. It gave me so much empathy for the amount of privilege we live in now and how much she and her siblings have done for their village. It was time to pack up and head back to another city.
