This visit to India has inspired me to revisit my personal style. I've always thought of my style as minimalist, low effort, but a couple years ago I decided to strip everything down because I was falling victim to swiping up on every ad. I built a capsule wardrobe and kept everything really minimal. Enter India. I felt like the moment I touched down, I suddenly had unlimited energies to shop, whether it was the diamond store or just the vendor down the street. I sat for hours learning about different silks from different parts of India and the different craftsmanship techniques they used to create all of the incredible Indian clothing. The hand embroidery, the amount of hours it took, and oh my god, the colors. All of a sudden it made total sense to me why the European low exposure minimalist aesthetic never really sat right with me. I started being inspired by all of these little things, like the color of the sari my grandmother wore, something I saw on the street, random landscaping I would see at family members' house. Everything I ate or saw became a source of inspiration for me to revisit my personal style, and that really bled into everything I bought all over India. It's now my mission to take all of the incredible Indian pieces I've bought and figure out how to style them with my day-to-day Western wardrobe here in LA.
