This is a clip of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade yesterday, where a group of performers were forced to dance through a pile of horse feces while surrounded by what appear to be event organisers and event staff doing nothing but either laughing or looking away as if they're the ones embarrassed. Audience and decision makers in the performing art space really do believe that dancers, that musicians, that stage actors can eat poop. And this video of professional or at least trained dancers preparing to become fully professional dancers dancing through a pile of horse shit during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is evidence of that. Because it is impossible to say that Macy's and whoever is organising this parade did not know that this could happen and did not realise they should have someone on staff ready to deal to mitigate a situation like this, to mitigate a literal health hazard. Being a working performer in the U.S. Has never been an easy thing because we have such a hyper individualistic culture and most performers are not covered under, like, OSHA due to their status as 1099 workers. never have I seen (recently) such an egregious VISIBLE example of workers being exploited, their safety being risked in so many different ways. The sheer idea that they could slip and fall from this poo, let alone the fact that it's literally poo and with This specific case, quite similarly to how I look at the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader situation and the fact that they're so severely underpaid. Up until this, like, this last football season. You can't tell me that's not, like, voyeuristic misogyny. But anyways, I think what has really set the stage for our society reaching a point where a bunch of people can stare at a bunch of dancers dancing through horse feces, which is a very visible health and safety, um, violation. Labour violation, is the fact that for the last, like, four years, since, uh, post lockdowns in 2021, performers who are subjected to some of the most dangerous environments due to lack of air circulation in indoor performing venues. um, so music, uh, musicians, stage actors, dancers, they've all been subjected continuously to a disabling virus that's invisible. So it makes sense that this type of visible hostility is now coming to surface.
