So I have over $30,000 in my high yield savings account as a 20-year-old, but I didn't know where to open a high yield savings account. These are the three companies that I would be looking into. Welcome to day 10 of Navigating your 20's, a series where I talk about budgeting, investing, and internships for 20-year-olds. This is based on January of 2026. All three of these accounts are federally insured and they also have no hidden fees. Starting off with Open Bank with an interest rate of 4.2, which is pretty high right now. The only thing with Open Bank is you need to have at least $500 in the account. So if you have at least $500, you will be receiving that 4.2% interest rate. And number two is Everbank with a 3.9% interest rate right now. Unlike the first one, they don't require any minimum, so you can have as little as $1 in that account. And the third one I'm a little bit biased because I use it myself, but it's American Express at 3.3% currently. And the reason why American Express is in my top three is because of convenience. If you have any cards with American Express, you can just have one app for all of it. Other notable companies include Barclays, Wealthfront, and SoFi. It doesn't really matter what company you choose, just as long as you choose one, because as soon as you get your money in the high yield savings account, it's going to keep snowballing so you can make more money.
