Hook
So you've been saving majority of your income and you finally reach your first $10,000. Here's exactly what I would do if I reach my first $10,000. Coming from someone who reached 10k at just 18 years old, I wish I knew this advice sooner. Number one is going to be your lifestyle. Make sure once you reach that first 10k, then nothing absolutely changes. How you got that 10k, whether it's through a 9 to 5, your normal job or a side hustle, keep doing that. And just because you saved your first 10k does not mean you start spending a bunch of money on a bunch of stuff that you don't need. The second thing I want to talk about is making sure that your money works for you. $10,000 is a lot of money, it's enough money to put into the stock market and see substantial differences. If you put $10,000 into the S&P 500, which tracks the top 500 companies in America, assuming an average 8% return rate, you'd be looking at $800 every single year. When I'm trying to get is make sure your money is not sitting in a normal checking or savings account. Yes, investing can seem scary, but if you're under 30, the risk to reward ratio is just there for you. And lastly, what I think is the most important is your ego and your mindset. 10k seems like a lot, five freaking digits. But that does not mean you start buying designer items, you don't start buying a new watch, a new phone. Please stay humble, let your mindset do its job because you got to your first 10k for a reason, and now it's time on building on top of that.
