One day I glued some eraser tips to a keyboard cover. Day 5 of trying to sell out my product at Target. I invented the viral long nail keyboard cover. Available at Target. And we just launched an exclusive color with them at a new low price. Limited edition! Lowest price ever! Hi, if you're new here, I'm posting every day as we try and sell out. And today I want to do a story time of how I invented Tippy Type. After years of being a career coach, helping others navigate career change, I realized I need to change myself. So I started preparing for my return to corporate. There was just one problem. Corporate means more typing. This means I'd have to get rid of my long nails because typing with them was a pain. Priorities. Am I right? But honestly, long nails are a form of self-expression and bring me so much joy. Career coaching really didn't require me to type that much. So I could get away with having my long nails, but even then, I would get hand cramps from typing with stick straight fingers or lifting of my gel X if I typed with my tips. Here's a photo of my finger. My gel X broke right off. Ouch. I was determined to figure this problem out because I really didn't want to cut my nails or keep breaking them. After tons of research, I really couldn't find anything on the market that would help me. I even tried nutrition and special nail oils, but at the end of the day, nothing really worked. I'm a problem solver, so I got to work. One day, I glued some eraser tips to a keyboard cover. The idea was to create keys that were elevated so I could curve my fingers and type naturally with clearance for my nails. And guess what? It worked. Next up, to create the next iteration, I contacted a manufacturer and a few months later, I had my first working prototype. Even better, I was in final rounds for a job I really wanted. And now I can type with my nails. Then I got hit with a curveball. I didn't get the job. I was exhausted from the job search and didn't know what to do. But then I had a thought. What if I wasn't the only person with this problem, with typing with long nails? Maybe there was something here. So I started working more on this idea and gave it a name. Tippy Type. I filed a patent. Built a team and together we dug in. I even went into my savings to fund my first batch of inventory. I had no idea how quickly things would escalate. After launching and spraying of 2024, we immediately went viral and sold out that first batch of inventory. Then we went on pre-order and kept selling out. You guys, it was impossible to stay in stock. Just a few months after launch, we started talking to Target. And here we are today with this beautiful limited edition color exclusive to Target.com.
