You need to be building soft skill now, even if your employer isn't putting the focus there

My opinion we should all be a little concerned that on this eye chart we see a super dark line right here but then when we come up into this section we see a lot of wishy washy blue. This is a table from the future of jobs report from the World Economic Forum for 2025. Along this access you'll see a bunch of different skills that are gonna be difficult to read and then down below are a bunch of different industries and the table outlines the importance that employers in these specific industries gave to these skillsets over the next five years. This row right here where it's all deep dark blue is big data and AI and while of course that's important the part that's concerning to me is that all of these skills right here in this kind of like light blue block are what I would call soft skills. On this table along the far right side you're gonna see that they call them cognitive skills and attributes but these are the things that are human about us. It's important for us to understand AI and be able to use data and critically think about it but even critical thinking doesn't have a dark blue line across saying that employers feel it's a critical skill for their employees in the next five years you should be seeing dark blue in this data and analytics and then along that very last row where it says Technology Letter C those should be dark blue but so should all of the stuff right here that my face is over right now. Critical thinking, analytical thinking, empathy, attention to detail, being able to work alongside technology requires all of those skill sets. Now is the time for us to be focusing on how do we help our employees build all of these competencies so that when AI and big data becomes a bigger part of what we're doing everyday we have the right skills to counter the technology. In a world full of technology we have to lean into what makes us human and sharpen our soft skills and apparently this isn't something that you can wait for your employers to care about you need to be doing it now.
