Excel is the diamond of enterprise tech. For the last 10 years, I have been listening to people that their solution is going to what ultimately gets rid of disparate Excel spreadsheets all over the company. But Excel is the cockroach of enterprise technology. You can sunset your legacy systems, you can migrate everything to the cloud, or even spend millions of dollars for consultants to transform the organisation. It doesn't matter. No matter what you do, somewhere in the company, there is a macro-enabled spreadsheet with more tabs than you can count that is absolutely mission critical to the organisation. Excel isn't flashy, but it's learned to survive. The survival mechanism is so strong that Excel has evolved alongside technology. Microsoft 365. It moved to low code, original citizen development is and now AI is in Excel. It's evolving and moving and growing, it's never gonna go away.
