This is the project that got me an internship at Apple. And one an award at Apple's global hackathon, the Swift Student Challenge. Hi, my name is May and I'm a CS major at the University of Waterloo. Welcome to part three of my Swift Student Challenge series where today I'll be walking you through the app that I built last year. I think you're going to be really surprised on how simple it is. My app is called Auto and it's a personal audiology to help you learn more about hearing loss. Here's what I can help you with. This is the starting page. There are three options. There's a hearing loss simulator, a chat, and an interactive audiogram. So if we go to Let's Learn, you start on the chat. And if you tap on the bunny and actually wave. So again, there's three options. If I say I have a question, and here because the Swift Student Challenge doesn't allow any network dependency, I actually hard coded all these answers. And the other part of the app is a hearing loss simulator. Above here, you can choose different scenarios, for example, shopping. You have a visualization of what you're supposed to hear at a normal hearing loss level. And then if you go mild, moderate or severe, you can actually see that the letters disappear because someone who suffers from hearing loss won't actually pick up on those letters. For example, a bird or whispering. If it goes below a certain level, then you won't be able to hear it anymore. So, okay, ready to go. We've got tickets, we've got boarding pass, not checked in online, right? Yes, we've done everything. Okay, great. Okay, great. Great. What? What? What? I'm not getting any. Yeah. Oh, okay. Great. Okay, that's too much. Have a great day. You too. Okay, twenty minutes to the airport. That's all I'm saying. Okay. Normal. Mild. Moderate. Severe. The last part of the app is the interactive audiogram. An audiogram is basically a chart that shows you what your hearing loss sounds like. If you were someone suffering from hearing loss, you would actually get an audiogram and here you can actually interact with it and kind of put your own audiogram results. Then you can switch to the sounds view where if you drag your audiogram results lower, things start to gray out because you won't hear those sounds like for example, a bird or whispering. If it goes below a certain level, then you won't be able to hear it anymore. Okay. Normal. Mild. Moderate. Severe. Okay. That was the app. I'd also like to add that the reason why I built the specific app is because I personally diagnosed with mild hearing loss. So it became really handy when writing the essay portion of the Swift Student Challenge because I could draw from my personal experience and where I got my inspiration from.
