Wow, it finally happened. Claude code source code has been leaked. If you don't know the history on this, there's a lot of history on this, because Anthropic does not want anyone to see the source code for Claude Code. They've been getting a ton of pressure to open source it by the community. No. But the story gets really good, okay? So the source code is leaked late last night. Of course it's forked. It was like something crazy, like 40,000 times on GitHub. If you know Anthropic, you know exactly what they did. DMCA takedowns. But, but, this is huge. A guy rewrote it in Python. Claude Code is written in TypeScript, not Python, which makes this Python rewrite an original work, which cannot be taken down by DMCA copyright takedown. He then rewrites it again in Rust. The only reason this is a thing is because Anthropic plays so many games. The irony of being a developer company and being so precious about your IP, and then also vibe coding so much and not being careful that you get your entire source code leaked. Only Anthropic.
