21, I started investing last year and I'm on track to have a six-figure portfolio before the year ends. Here are three things I do when I invest or how I invest. Um, for starters, brokerage, I use Fidelity. It's easy to use and also has fractional shares. Um, with fractional shares are is basically instead of buying the full stock price, I can buy based on a dollar amount I allocate. For example, if I wanted to buy Apple stock and I only had $100, I would still be able to get $100 worth of Apple stock, even though it's not the full stock, it's the fraction of it basically. Um, I also have both a Roth IRA and taxable brokerage account. Um, number two, the way I invest or my investment thesis. It's like, uh, I am in long-term investing. I'm investing for the long term. I invest in low-cost ETFs like VOO and QQQM, etcetera, things like that. Another big thing is I stay away from all day trading, options, forex, futures, all that. I don't really know that. I don't have the time to know all that, so I don't do it. Um, another reason is a 97 to 99% of day traders lose their money. Um, lastly, how I deploy my funds. Um, I DCA dollar cost average monthly. Um, it's also automated, so it's like a bill that leaves my account once every month. Um, the funds are pulled from my high-yield savings account as well. And then because of this, I buy when prices are both up and when they are down. It doesn't matter to me. I just buy again because I'm here for the long term. Other things or a little honorable mention is I also, I only check my portfolio on Fridays or the end of the week. And I also took the emotions out of investing. When I see a red period or my portfolio has been in the red for a couple days, I don't think too much of it. I don't try and like panic sell. I just hold and sit through it. And I know that because I of my age and how long I'm, uh, investing for, it's not that big a deal. If anything, it's good for me as a young investor because I'm getting these same deals on sale.
