cause comparison isn't the thief of joy it's the thief of life itself my favourite story on Steve Jobs is when he got fired from apple 30 years old fired from the same company you founded 10 years ago and now back to square one with nothing to show for it and at the same time all his peers are launching new apple products every week and then there's him but Steve Jobs says that even though he was super depressed it ended up being the best thing that ever happened to him so he took some time away from the business world and started another company that you might have heard of pixar you see Steve Jobs didn't waste his time comparing his journey to other people's success I would have just made him quit instead he understood that this world has billions and billions of roads that all lead to the same exact destination which is ultimate success whatever that looks like for you but if a rookie were to go into the NBA and compare himself to lebron you'd call him crazy yet every time you scroll on Instagram and compare your journey to somebody else's destination are you not essentially doing the same exact thing comparison isn't the thief of joy it's the thief of life itself and if you let it steal your dreams from you you'll always be chasing something that can't be caught so you understand that you win trophies in practice and just go to tournaments to collect them and if you can keep your head out of the comparison trap for long enough you'll notice that you're competing at the same tournaments and collecting the same exact trophies as your peers because you win the process and a lot of the outcome to flow through you but if you keep scrolling and comparing you'll always be chased by anxiety while the both of you chase imaginary competition
