The black is medium and the white is stiff and both are labeled right on the handle. You can keep one set for your kitchen and one set for your bathroom. And look at this grip and this angled metal. It actually gets in the tight crevices most brushes can't reach. But the thing that sold me is this protective end cap. When you're cleaning tight spaces and you don't want metal scraping against metal, especially around faucets or anything you can scratch, this protects that.
