I did some pretty unhinged stuff when I was in corporate but I think one of the most unhinged things that I did to get promoted faster was when I was on my first team at my big tech company me and my really close co worker who's no longer at the company I mean I'm no longer there either I don't know I'm getting so sentimental about this but in meetings we used to hype each other up so like if I was presenting we would be in like oh my gosh such an amazing presentation and you know after that everyone kind of trickles in after and I think it's really good to have like your hype person especially if they're on the same team or maybe they're on a sister team so maybe you work in marketing they're on the product team or they're on the sales team and they're hyping you up this is really really helpful because it makes you look good to your manager and like the other people on the team and in general just goes down to helping you when it comes time for promotion or like end of your performance reviews cause at the end of the day Corporate America is a game and it's all about perception and how you're perceived so if you're perceived as wow you're this contributor you're adding value and of course like the compliments from your peers should be legit but obviously as a hype person you have to be doing good work for them to like advocate for you cause it's still their reputation but I would say like have one two three hype people that can consistently do it in a way that doesn't look like you guys are like plotting and scheming this does really help and I don't even think me and the girl had it planned it just kind of became our like unofficial thing and definitely helped elevate us when we were both new to the company and trying to find our footing
