I can tell the last credit card. About seven months ago, my husband and I started aggressively paying off our $63,000 in credit card debt, which was spread out over six maxed out credit cards. So let's pay off credit card number five. Because my husband is getting three paychecks this month, we knew we would be able to budget the entire balance of this credit card getting paid off, but we split the payments up to make it a little bit easier. And just for context, when we first began our debt payoff journey, this credit card was sitting at a balance of $10,229.91. At the start of this month, it was at a balance of $4,010.15. And now it's at a balance of $1,610.15. And we were able to pay that balance off in full, which means the credit card is now at $0.00. Our remaining credit card debt is on one credit card with a total balance of $9,206.10. Now that is still a high balance and it's a lot of money, but to think that seven months ago we were over $63,000 in credit card debt and now we're only in $9,000 of credit card debt, I could celebrate that in and of itself. Our goal is to pay off that $9,000 by the end of next month, which seems really crazy because it is really crazy. I'm sharing about my debt and finances to help other people feel a little bit better and a little less shame about their own. Personally, I feel that shame only perpetuates isolation and an inability to move forward and take action. Debt payoff journeys just become a little bit easy when we're able to remove some of that shame. And that shame loses so much of its power when we're just open and honest. If you're in debt too, I see you. I'm really glad you're here. And let's freaking pay this credit card debt off.
