Hook
I know I'm gonna get a lot of crap for saying this, but as a first time homeowner that is almost done paying off her home in California. I'm gonna be real with you guys. Home ownership is a little bit of a scam. I have always dreamt of becoming a homeowner, right? I grew up very, very poor and I worked really, really hard to move to now achieve the life that I have now, right? A home that I love and I have. But there's a lot to it. Even when I'm done paying off my home, why the heck am I still gonna have to pay property taxes? Like, you never fully own your home because how are you gonna tell me that even after I pay off this damn mortgage, I'm still gonna be paying for 4, 5k a year on property taxes. And mind you, they can go up every year by like 1% or something like that. Also, things are costly when you're a homeowner. Now, if things like your water heater is out, you got to pay for the installation, for them to fix it. If your roof needs repairing every 20, 30 years, you gotta pay for that. You pay for everything now, right? Because you are the owner. You're not renting, right? That's the simplicity in renting versus actually owning. Owning, there's more satisfaction because it's your own home, no one can technically take it away from you. But technically, we don't pay our property taxes technically. But regardless, you know, owning, there's more security in that. But I think there's also more stress in that also. And that's kind of like a debate that everyone could argue. But I mean, I'm happy with my decision. But I do think it's a little bit of a scam and I share that with you guys just as like a thought that came out of my head.
