This is everything I as a software engineer trying not to succumb to vibe coding brain rot. First of all, I read China's AI optimism is not what it seems by Zilan Qian. You know, for a country with 17% youth unemployment, why do they seem to be so optimistic about AI? Is that all that it is, or is there something deeper behind it? And then I read the Project Glasswing update that was provided by Anthropic, basically about how their cloud-mithos cybersecurity screening is going really well. They said that they found a ton of security vulnerabilities, but the problem is still that humans take a long time to patch these bugs and mithos might be really great at finding 10,000 vulnerabilities, but it's not so great at patching all of them just yet. I also read notes on AI, Labor, and China by Jasmine Sun, which is an accompaniment to her New York Times piece on Silicon Valley is bracing for a permanent underclass. I mostly really read the arguments that she had against the arguments that people had against her article talking about how AI might not just be a tool that people use and may end up displacement. Least I finished up breaking and entering by Joy Williams. It's a great book. It's surreal. It's a masterpiece.
