AI can read your source code. Even without the source. Compiled code stopped being protection and most developers don't know it yet. I wrote my first line of code more than 40 years ago. Last week I uploaded a disc image of Xyphus, a game I first played on the Mac 512 in 1985. No source code, just the binary, and I asked Claude to decompile it. It did. Then I asked it to rewrite the game in Python and it did that too. I didn't have the source. The original developers are probably retired or dead. It didn't matter. Here's the thing developers don't want to hear: compiled code was never really protection. It was just friction. Expensive, time-consuming friction that kept most people out. AI dissolves friction. I've been saying it in many videos here. This is what I meant. Whatever you've shipped, whatever sitting on someone's server or their Windows 95 PC, it's readable. That barrier that kept your implementation private dropped and it dropped pretty quietly. This doesn't mean stop building. It means stop assuming your binary is your moat.
