One of my favorite money saving travel habits is checking both Uber and Lyft before ordering a ride. I always found it kind of weird how everyone loves to compare prices when it comes to flights, hotels, and car rentals to find the best deals, but they don't do the same thing when it comes to rideshares. And I'm not saying Lyft is always going to be cheaper, but it definitely can be and it has been for me many times in the past. I think most people just open the same app out of habit and assume the prices are going to be the same, even though rideshare prices fluctuate constantly depending on demand, surge pricing, promotions, all that stuff. So now anytime I'm heading to the airport, dinner, meetings, wherever, I just take an extra five seconds to compare both apps before booking. Because when you save money on the little things consistently, over time that adds up and gives you more money to spend on the parts of the trip that actually matter, like a better hotel, nice dinners, experiences, or making memories with the people you actually care about.
