During their most recent software keynote, Apple stated in no uncertain terms that only some of the most recent iPhone 17 and later, and some very select few iPad and Mac models actually have access to Apple's new advanced on-device machine learning and AI models, with everything else seemingly not getting the update. To set the scene, every single Apple Intelligence feature, including all the new Siri updates and Siri AI, are powered by Apple Foundation Models, which themselves are powered through with Google Gemini Models.
